“Seven hundred respirators arrived in Hungary on Tuesday and Wednesday; the instruments will be going to hospitals”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI.
Mr. Szijjártó said there is heated debate in the world’s medical and scientific communities with relation to exactly what the future of the coronavirus looks like, and accordingly, to be sure of being on the safe side, we must prepare for having to protect against the virus in the long term. “We must have at our disposal the equipment needed for health protection, which assures that we will be able to protect the Hungarian people in the long term, and accordingly the procurement of the equipment and instruments that is vital to successfully protecting against the virus will remain continuous”, he highlighted. “We are also preparing for the long term so that we are also able to treat serious cases if they should arise, and to ensure that Hungary does not find itself in a similar to position to certain European countries that did not possess sufficient numbers of respirators”, he noted.
