“In its current form, the Global Compact for Migration is an African migration package, the beneficiary of which is Africa, and as a result of which the population of Europe could change radically in the upcoming period” Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Monday in New York.
The Minister will be giving a speech at the intergovernmental negotiations on the global migration package at the United Nations Headquarters.
“As the debate progresses, the situation is getting increasingly worse”, he explained with relation to the negotiations. “It would now be justified to rechristen the Global Compact for Migration to the African Compact, since its clear beneficiary is Africa and its clear victim is Europe”, he said.
Mr. Szijjártó explained that in its current for the Global Compact includes changes that not only describe mass migration as a fact, but as a desirable process, and with this package Europe has to all intents and purposes given up the fight against major migration processes.
“Adoringly, in this form the Global Compact represents an extreme danger to Europe, because if the goals set down in the plan are realised then the make-up of Europe’s population will change radially in the upcoming few years”, the Hungarian Foreign Minister declared.
As he explained, amendments have been added to the Compact that further reinforce the factors that facilitate and give rise to major migration processes”, he said. “For instance, it calls for all migrants to receive all kinds of services after leaving their homes, irrespective of what transit country they are in or what country they happen to have chosen for themselves”, he pointed out.
The Minister also spoke about the fact that the migration package also talks about the decriminalisation of illegally crossing borders, meaning the UN’s goal is for nobody in the world to handle illegal border crossing as a crime, but simply as a kind of administrative issue, which undermines the security of individual states to an extreme extent.
“The migration package also states that migration must be regarded as the best solution to demographic or labour market challenges in an almost mandatory and definitive manner”, he said. “Hungary does not agree with this; in Hungary we see the solution to these challenges in the continuous development of education and the birth of more children, and not in bringing illegal immigrants into the country”, he explained.
“In a manner that is totally detached from common sense”, in its current form the Compact also calls for the international community to provide money for the financing of migration processes and the training of prospective migrants, and urges recipient societies to admit as many migrants as possible”, Mr. Szijjártó said.
“In its current form, the Global Compact for Migration is an African migration package, the victim of which is Europe, and as result of which Europe’s population, if things remain unchanged, could change radically in the upcoming period”, the Hungarian Foreign Minister stressed.
