In Budapest on Thursday, Minister of State for Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Levente Magyar and Eaton Regional President Kurt McMaken jointly announced that American power management company Eaton has opened a shared services centre in Budapest, which will create some 150 new jobs by the end of 2016.
Eaton already employs 350 people in Budapest and Győr, and by opening the new centre the company is expected to reach a headcount of 500 employees across the country by the end of 2016.
Levente Magyar highlighted the fact that Eaton’s decision to expand its activities in Hungary is testament to the fact that there remains huge potential in the Hungarian economy. He pointed out that the energy sector is an important field in present and future energy management, and that it is a sector of high added value.
Kurt McMaken said that, in addition to its customer service and sale support functions, the services centre in Budapest will provide technical and user-related assistance to customers, retailers, wholesalers and distributers in handling their orders.
Mr. Magyar also said that in the coming period an important and determining factor from an economic, social and political point of view will be how a given country can ensure sustainable development with the aid of flexible energy solutions.
With regard to the project he said that this year Hungarian-American economic relations have continued to improve, and that for some years there has been double-digit growth in Hungarian-American trade volumes and in American investments in Hungary.
Mr. Magyar added that Eaton will provide prospects and jobs to hundreds of young trained Hungarians – even to those who might otherwise decide to go to work abroad. He also declared that in the future Eaton can continue to rely on the openness and help of the Government of Hungary.
