“The Balassagyarmat border crossing point has been reopened, and from Wednesday morning is once again enabling commuters to cross the border”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on his social media page on Wednesday morning.
Mr. Szijjártó wrote in a Facebook post that the region’s MP had indicated in Parliament on Monday that the closure of the border crossing point represents a major difficulty for people living in the area. “In view of the fact that similar problems have also been voiced on the other side of the border, we quickly came to an agreement with our Slovakian colleagues with relation to the fact that we will be providing commuters with the opportunity to cross the border again from dawn this morning”, the Minister stated.
