“Beginning on Wednesday, the obligation of the two countries’ citizens to enter quarantine after crossing the border between Hungary and Romania will be eliminated”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on his Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon.

“The Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (DAHR) has been asking the Hungarian government for some time to attempt to come to an agreement with the Romanian government  on enabling Romanian and Hungarian citizens to cross the border between the two countries without having to enter quarantine”, Mr. Szijjártó said.

“We have accelerated these negotiations, and have succeeded in coming to an agreement, thanks to which from midnight on Tuesday, meaning from Wednesday morning, Hungarian and Romanian citizens will be able to cross the border between Hungary and Romania without the mandatory requirement to enter quarantine”, he announced.
In the video, Mr. Szijjártó thanked the DAHR and its president, Hunor Helemen, for keeping the issue on the agenda throughout.
