“Brussels’ goal is for as many immigrants as possible to come to Europe, but we must do everything possible to ensure that this does not become a reality”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told reporters on Tuesday evening in Budapest.

“The battle concerning illegal immigration is gaining new impetus every week within the European Union”, the politician said.

“Illegal immigration is clearly a security issue, but Brussels is refusing to handle it as such”, he added.

“27 terrorist attacks have occurred in Europe in recent years, causing the deaths of 330 innocent people and injuring over a thousand others”, Mr. Szijjártó pointed out.

“There is an absolutely clear link between illegal immigration and the threat of terrorism; the more illegal immigration is allowed, the greater the threat of terrorism”, he declared.

“What else is needed for Brussels to recognise its errors?”, the Minister asked.

“This battle is now approaching its final phase. The Hungarian Government requires ammunition to successfully fight this battle”, Mr. Szijjártó said.

“People can voice their opinion at the National Consultation, and with their support the Hungarian Government could be successful in its battle against illegal immigration”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stressed at a public forum on the National Consultation held in Budapest’s Ferencváros district.
