The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was shocked to learn about the mass accident on the Island of Madeira which claimed the lives of 13 pilgrims, including the life of a Hungarian national.

The Hungarian Embassy in Lisbon contacted the family of the deceased, and is providing all consular help for the relatives of the victim. The Hungarian honorary consul on the Island of Madeira is helping with administration on site, and is in ongoing communication with the hospital and the authorities concerned. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade offers its condolences to the relatives of every victim, and wishes the injured a swift recovery.
