On 22 December 2018 the coastline around the Sunda Strait which lies between Java and Sumatra experienced a tsunami. 222 people lost their lives.
According to the information provided by our Embassy in Jakarta, no Hungarians were affected. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó has expressed his condolences to his Indonesian counterpart, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, with relation to the tragedy.
