Péter Szijjártó takes the view that Croatia’s Interior Minister was blinded by the heat of the election campaign, and this is obviously the reason why he told multiple lies regarding Hungary in a single interview, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade told the Hungarian News Agency MTI on Friday.
In the communiqué, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade responded to the claims made by Croatian Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic in an interview given to Deutsche Welle.
Clearly, the Croatian Interior Minister himself shares a great deal of responsibility for the fact that Croatia is unable to meet the European Union’s requirements, and by virtue of this, it has caused significant tensions in the region, the communiqué reads.
The Ministry issued the communiqué because Ranko Ostojic said in answer to the journalist’s question as to whether Croatia, similar to Slovenia, has ordered razor-wire: “we do not entertain this idea, it would be a waste of money. If there is no decision about shooting, no wire obstacle of any kind will help. The Hungarians made such a decision. The Slovenians may erect walls, wire obstacles or any other similar structure, but if they do not accept responsibility for the fact that people who cross the obstacles will be shot at in a European country, the whole thing will be in vain.”
