Deputy State Secretary Kristóf Altusz paid an official visit to The Hague on 3 June 2015.
Mr. Altusz discussed ways to further develop the bilateral political and economic cooperation, and the situation of migration, a burning issue for EU member states, with Robert de Groot, Director-General for European Cooperation of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on current issues on the European Union’s agenda, such as preparations for the Dutch EU Presidency, the possible consequences of the elections in the United Kingdom, and the potentials of the Visegrád-Benelux cooperation.
At the meeting with Political Director Wim Geerts, the parties discussed the relations with the North American continent and Mr. Altusz informed his counterpart on the “Southern Opening” policy and Hungary’s increasing presence in the Latin American region. The parties also exchanged views on current international issues, such as the crisis in Ukraine, and the energy security challenges of the Central European region, including Hungary.
Mr. Altusz held talks with members of the European Affairs Committee of the Dutch House of Representatives, and Marcel Floor, Head of the Dutch IHRA delegation, and met members of the “Friends of the Embassy” group coordinated by the Hungarian Embassy in The Hague.
