“Employment agencies and temporary employment agencies could play an important role in the rebooting of the economy, and accordingly the government is counting on their involvement and experience”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared on Monday in Budapest after signing a strategic cooperation agreement with Prohumán Limited.
“The company works in cooperation with hundreds of enterprises and is one of the ten largest employers in Hungary”, Mr. Szijjártó said, justifying the strategic-level relationship. “The danger posed by the epidemic is increasing the value of the experience acquired within the field of labour management, and accordingly the government is also counting on advice from Prohumán during the course of decision-making”, he added.
In Hungary, it has been possible to hire employees from employment agencies since 2002. “Since then, the hiring out of temporary staff has grown to become a sector of industry that generates hundreds of billions in turnover each year. Prior to signing the agreement on Monday, the government had established strategic cooperation with 84 companies, which is partly responsible for the fact that the companies involved are now employing 25 thousand more people and have increased the ratio of their Hungarian suppliers by 5 percent”, the Minister said, praising high-level relations with businesses.
In summary, the Minister said the increasing share of domestic suppliers has brought hundreds of millions of euros in additional orders for those involved.
Mr. Szijjártó said that in his opinion Hungary can begin the economic relaunch from a favourable position, and will not even have to give up its status as the region’s most attractive investment destination. “However, the prerequisites for this include a highly trained workforce, and the fact that the government is assisting enterprises with tax concessions, wage supplements, a 2-trillion-forint (EUR 5.65 billion) credit line and a 500 billion forint (EUR 1.41 billion) guarantee fund in this extraordinary situation”, he emphasised.
Managing Director of Prohumán Ltd. Sándor Zakor promised to cooperate with the government in the interests of ensuring that as few workplaces as possible are terminated and as many employers and investments as possible arrive from abroad.
“Building on our 25 years of experience, the company can undertake the role of a bridge between employers and employees in the transforming economic situation”, he added.
Budapest-based Prohumán 2004 Employment Service and Consulting Limited is one of the region’s determining enterprises and Hungary’s market leader within the field of labour placement and temporary employment.
According to information provided by the company, it provides a work opportunity for 17 thousand employees in 8 countries every single day.
In 2017, Prohumán realised a net turnover of almost 29 billion forints (EUR 81.9 million), increasing to 34 billion forints (EUR 96 million) in 2018. During the same period, the company’s after-tax profits increased from 941.5 million forints (EUR 2.66 million) to 1.2 billion forints (EUR 3.39 million), according to publicly available company data.
