At the Prague European Summit on Thursday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that currently Europe is not facing a migrant crisis, but mass migration.

On the first day of the international political conference, during one of the panel discussions on the future of the EU, Mr. Szijjártó said that “Efforts at political correctness, as well as hypocrisy, prevent some from admitting that this is not a migrant crisis, but mass migration”.

There are some 45 million people to the south of Europe, in the Middle East and North Africa, who could head for Europe as a result of conflicts and the current political situation, the Minister pointed out.

Mr. Szijjártó also called attention to the fact that it is unacceptable to make political statements which that can be interpreted as “invitations”.

Also on the agenda on the first day of the two-day Prague European Summit was how Central European countries’ potential to exert influence in working for the reform of EU institutions could be increased. On this issue Mr. Szijjártó said that “there is no strong EU without a strong Visegrád 4”.
