According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, everything always reminds leader of the German social democrats, Martin Schulz, of the Hungarian Prime Minister, whereas he would do better to be concerned about his own party in view of the fact that the SPD has suffered a loss in three regional elections recently.
Péter Szijjártó made the statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Saturday in reaction to the fact that in an interview published in German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Chairman of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the party’s candidate for Chancellor Martin Schulz said: “As far as the right-wing populists are concerned, the Straches (Heinz-Christian Strache is the Chairman of the Freedom Party of Austria) and the Orbáns belong to the same family of parties as Merkel, they are all members of the European People’s Party group”.
According to Mr. Szijjártó: “Everything always reminds the Chairman of the German social democrats of the Hungarian Prime Minister, whereas Martin Schulz would do better to finally begin dealing with his own party in view of the fact that they have suffered embarrassing defeats at a total of three elections within the past few months”.
The SPD lost the regional elections in Saarland, Schleswig-Holstein, and most recently in North Rhine-Westphalia last Sunday.
