Visiting the city of Mumbai after the signing of a cooperation agreement in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Dr. László Szabó said that “In India – which now has better economic growth prospects than China – it is necessary to strengthen economic and political relations not only at national level, but at state level.”

Together with the Governor of Maharashtra Vidyasagar Rao, the Deputy Minister surveyed economic and political cooperation between India and Hungary. They pointed out the extraordinary Hungarian contribution to the Indian Mars programme, the success of the Gujarat-based Richter-Themis joint venture, and the similarities between the Hungarian government's priorities and Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” campaign.
