The foundation stone of Kühne +Nagel Ltd’s new regional vehicle parts distribution centre has been laid at the industrial park in Páty; the 5 billion forint (EUR 16M) investment project represents the launch of the national industrial park programme.

The contractor for the 23 thousand square metre greenfield investment project is state-owned National Industrial Park Operating and Development Cls., which performs its activities under the Inpark trademark. According to plan, the Centre will be completed by July 2017 and will provide jobs for 260 people. The developer is financing 75 percent of the project from credit market loans.

At the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó highlighted the fact that new industrial parks are being established within the framework of the national industrial park scheme, and the network of new parks will eventually cover the whole country.

The Minister pointed out that tough global competition means there is an increasing need for solidarity and close cooperation between the Hungarian Government and the private sector. According to the Minister, 68 foreign investments have been agreed upon so far this year via the investment promotion system and the 3.2 billion euros in capital was creating 16 thousand new jobs. “The country must make regular decisions aimed at attracting large foreign investors”, Mr. Szijjártó stressed.
“The significance of this investment is reinforced by the fact that it is related to the automotive industry, which provides the backbone of the Hungarian economy”, he said.

“Within the framework of the national industrial park scheme the Government had made decisions that simplify and shorten the decision-making process, and combined with construction competence prospective sites and the concept for their development are being offered ‘on a silver platter’ to potential investors”, he highlighted.

The Minister also spoke about the fact that Hühne + Nagel Ltd. employs over a thousand people in Hungary, and accordingly the Government has proposed the conclusion of a strategic partnership agreement with the company.

CEO of National Industrial Park Operating and Development Cls (NIPÜF) Zsombor Török said that the state-owned company enjoys close ties to the government, but their activities are performed as a traditional market player.
