“The Government has concluded a strategic partnership agreement with the Swiss Rehau-Automotive Group, within the framework of which it will be providing 7.1 billion forints (EUR 21.8 million) in non-returnable funding towards the establishment of the company’s second production plant in Hungary”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in Újhártyán, Pest County.

At the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new automotive parts manufacturing plant due to be constructed in the town, Mr. Szijjártó told reporters that thanks to its 40 billion forint (EUR 123 million) investment in Hungary, the company will be manufacturing bumpers for vehicles using state-of-the-art production technology, and will be creating 652 new jobs.

“The Government only concludes strategic partnership agreements with corporations whose activities have a perceivable effect on the Hungarian national economy. To date, the Government has signed such strategic agreements with 78 companies”, the Minister added.

Mr. Szijjártó spoke about the fact that the 78 companies with whom the Government has concluded strategic partnership agreements employ a total of some 175 thousand people in Hungary, and these companies have increased their ratio of Hungarian suppliers by 4 percent, which represents tens of millions of euros in increased revenue for Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises. He added that these corporations operate with an average export ratio of 70 percent, which means that they contribute significantly to Hungary’s export success.

CEO of Rehau-Automotive Ltd. Markus Grundmann told reporters that the company is a family-owned business, which thanks to the successes of recent years has grown to become an international company with 20 thousand employees. He added that the company has been present in Hungary for a long time, beginning with the opening of a small office in 1993, providing various services to construction industry companies, after which it established a logistics centre in Győr in 2005, followed by the construction of the company’s own plant in 2013.
