The Government of Hungary expressed its most sincere condolences to the family members of those who perished in the Ankara terrorist attack, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade informed the Hungarian News Agency MTI on Saturday.
The Ministry stressed in its communiqué that the Hungarian Government condemns every form of terrorism. Tragic events like this, too, underline the necessity of upgrading our joint efforts in the fight against terrorism, they pointed out.
In the communiqué, the Ministry expressed its condolences to the family members of the victims, and wished the injured a swift recovery. On Saturday morning two powerful bombs were detonated in the centre of Ankara.
Just after ten o’clock local time, two powerful bombs were detonated within seconds of one another in the heart of the city where hundreds were gathering for a peace rally organised by Turkey’s public sector workers’ trade union. The purpose of the peaceful demonstration would have been to call for an end to the renewed violence between Kurdish rebels and the Turkish security forces.
The Turkish health minister told the press that 86 people had died and 186 people had been injured in the attack.
