On Thursday, some two billion dollars’ worth of contracts were concluded between Hungarian and Chinese company leaders in Beijing in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.
Eximbank signed a USD 500 million framework loan deal with China Development Bank to support Hungarian exports into China and encourage Chinese investments in Hungary. Mr. Szijjártó pointed out that “this day’s events also demonstrate that it is not an exaggeration to say that economic and political relations between Hungary and China have never been better".
He remarked that in addition to the interbank agreement, Chinese giant company Huawei will contribute to Hungarian IT developments and support the Széchenyi István University with 300 thousand dollars.
The head of Hungarian mobile parking payment company EPS was also among the signatories together with his Chinese counterpart from leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions ZTE. As pursuant to their agreement, they decided to create a joint venture company with a share capital of HUF 450 million with the aim of establishing and operating 100 thousand mobile payment parking spaces in China.
In line with its successful Chinese cooperation, Wizzair signed a contract with the China Construction Bank on the purchase of eleven new airplanes worth 1.4 billion dollars at list prices.
The Minister said that with the new Airbus A321 airplanes, Wizzair will remain the youngest fleet in Europe and the company will be able to further increase its passenger numbers of the current 20 million achieved in the last 12 months.
"These Hungarian business successes are clearly increasing the Hungarian economy's competitiveness. After all, the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy and its performance derive from each company’s competitiveness and business performance. Therefore today can be considered an important milestone in the success story of the Hungarian foreign economy", the Minister said.
