“The significance of stable points in diplomacy has increased as a result of the global pandemic, and the cooperation, friendship and strategic cooperation between Hungary and Germany is a stable point that will always be determinative”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó emphasised at Hungary’s Consulate General in Stuttgart on Wednesday.
“The basis of cooperation between the two countries is provided by relationships between people, which are founded on education, culture and reinforcing local Hungarian communities”, the Minister said.
“For this reason, it is important that a cultural institute is being opened at an important location such as Stuttgart”, he added. Mr. Szijjártó highlighted that 335 thousand Hungarian students are studying at Sunday schools at 9 locations in Baden-Württemberg, which strongly contributes to the preservation of identity and national consciousness. “In addition, in future the Andrássy Gyula German Language University of Budapest, which is jointly maintained by Hungary and the state of Baden-Württemberg, will also be offering bachelor degree courses, meaning that in Hungary German language education will be available at every level from nursery school to higher education”, he underlined.
Mr. Szijjártó added that cultural tasks will be multiplying in the upcoming period in view of the fact that Hungary’s latest participation at the Frankfurt Book Fair must be organised, and Hungarian cultural associations must be supported and brought together. “And finally, nurturing twin city relations and increasing their number is also an important task”, he said in closing.
