When consulting with EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica on Thursday in Brussels, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that Hungary continues its policy of tied aid credits.

Péter Szijjártó pointed out that the development programmes of the European Commission had been reviewed at the meeting. He ensured Mimica that Hungary would contribute to the European Development Fund with a sum of EUR 26.6 million in the upcoming years (until 2020).

The Hungarian Minister was of the opinion that the EU development policy is very important from the point of view of migration as well, since this policy stands closer to the approach, according to which everyone should be supported at their place of residence so that they can maintain a decent standard of living, while retaining their right for freedom.

When referring to the fact that he had informed the EU Commissioner that Hungary continues to pursue its policy of tied aid credits, Péter Szijjártó mentioned that currently EUR 83.1 million worth of tied aid credit transactions are being carried out from Hungary.

"We have serious export development goals related to our tied aid credit policy in the upcoming period”, he said, adding that in this regard special attention will be paid to the Western Balkans and Asian countries.
