“In accordance with the Prime Minister’s discussion in Estonia, Hungary will be re-establishing its ambassadorial presence in Holland”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian news agency MTI on Friday.

On the sidelines of the summit of EU heads of state and government in Tallinn, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told reporters that he had spoken with his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte and that ““We successfully brought the conflict to a close, and in fact we quite like each other and agreed on very many issues”. Hungary’s ambassador to Holland can now return to The Hague, the Prime Minister said.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister then told reporters that he had ordered Hungary’s Ambassador to The Hague to return to his post on Saturday.

“Hungary is one of Hungary’s important partners and cooperation between the two countries is effective, but even this excellent relationship cannot allow any parallel to be drawn between the other country and terrorists”, Mr. Szijjártó pointed out, adding “We are glad that the Dutch Government has also recognised this fact”.
