“Hungary is showing by far the most solidarity with Germany in view of the fact that no illegal immigrants are arriving in Germany via its territory”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian news agency MTI following several meetings in Stuttgart.
In addition to holding negotiations with the leaders of several automobile industry companies in the capital of Baden-Württemberg, Mr. Szijjártó also met with the State’s Interior Minister Reinhold Gall.
On the subject of his talks with the Social Democrat (SDP) politician, the Hungarian Foreign Minister said that they had primarily spoken about the immigration crisis with regard to which he had assured his negotiating partner that Hungary would continue to uphold all EU regulations and protect the Schengen Area, which has no internal borders, by protecting its southern border.
“We will protect our southern Schengen border”, Mr. Szijjártó declared.
In his telephone statement, the Hungarian Foreign Minister also stressed that “Europe will only succeed in finding a solution to the challenges posed by the immigration crisis if everyone finally complies with common regulations, but this is not currently the case”.
During his meeting with Baden-Württemberg’s Interior Minister, he pointed out that “Only we can claim that not a single illegal immigrant is reaching Germany via our territory”, Mr. Szijjártó added.
