The Government of Hungary condemns in the strongest terms the nuclear test carried out by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on September 9, 2016.

By this act DPRK seriously violates multiple UN Security Council resolutions, undermines the Inter-Korean dialogue and poses a grave threat to the security and stability of the region. Pyongyang, by conducting its second nuclear test this year, has clearly demonstrated that it rejects cooperation with the international community. Therefore it is indispensable that the international community remain unified in responding to the North Korean provocation.

The Government of Hungary yet again calls upon Pyongyang to stop all provocations, dismantle its nuclear program completely and irreversibly and return without delay to the Six-Party Talks, which can lead to an enduring settlement and a nuclear weapon-free Korean Peninsula.
