The Hungary Government trusts that the meeting between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on 27 April could be the first step towards reinforcing the peace and stability of the Korean peninsula.
Hungary supports a political solution, but the policy of sanctions against North Korea can only change if Pyongyang stops its nuclear and ballistic rocket programmes. It is our firm belief that the reduction of its nuclear arsenal would not endanger the DPRK’s security in the least, and on the contrary, the normalisation of relations with the international community would reinforce the country’s security and that of the whole region.
