“Hungary will continue to support efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East and will continue to stand up in support of the fair treatment of the region’s countries in international organisations”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó wrote on his social media page on Saturday with relation to the fact that Israel is normalising its relations with Bahrein.
Mr. Szijjártó said it is good news that in the Middle East, following the United Arab Emirates, Israel is now also normalising its diplomatic relations with Bahrein. “Since the White House drew up the schedule for the stabilisation of the region, this is already the second development that confirms that this is the best peace plan developed to date, and that this is the one that offers the greatest chance for there finally to be peace in the Middle East”, he wrote in his Facebook post.
“The President of the United States, the Prime Minister of Israel and Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, who have played a major personal role in the realisation of these agreements, all deserve acknowledgement”, he declared. “The historic agreement on the normalisation of relations will be signed in Washington on Tuesday in the White House garden”, the Minister stated, adding that it is an honour that Hungary has been invited to attend the event at Foreign Minister level.
