According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, it is a bad joke even at this time of year, with New Year’s Eve approaching, that Jean-Claude Juncker should want to tell us what Christian democracy is.

In response to an interview with the President of the European Commission published in the Sunday edition of a German newspaper, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said Jean-Claude Juncker has not been a Christian democratic politician for a long time. He is a pro-immigration liberal politician who laid a wreath at Marx’s statue, who commemorated Fidel Castro, and during whose presidency immigrants have flooded Europe and the British have left the European Union.

In Mr Szijjártó’s view, the „pro-immigration Brussels chief” is a grand master of weakening Europe. He brings immigrants into Europe, and would be only too happy to exclude from the whole of Europe anyone who does not want that. Europe’s security and competitiveness must be restored. This requires firm action, and at times like this one cannot falter, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Jean-Claude Juncker said in an interview given to the German Sunday paper Welt am Sonntag that Christian democratic values cannot be reconciled with Fidesz’s policy. In answer to the question as to why he allows Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán – who by virtue of his party Fidesz belongs to the European People’s Party (EPP) the same as the president of the European Commission – to get away with his attacks on Europe, while Hungary clearly profits from EU membership, he said he has permanent disputes with Mr Orbán, and in the EPP he initiated the exclusion of Fidesz.
