According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the basic pretext of the UN’s global migration package does not correspond to reality.
“The document’s fundamental pretext is false and deceitful”, Mr. Szijjártó declared in Prague following talks with Czech Foreign Minister Martin Stropniczky.
“It is not true that migration is a positive thing and is unstoppable. Hungary does not agree with this statement. Migration is dangerous and can be stopped”, Mr. Szijjártó explained. He confirmed his earlier statement according to which Hungary will be exiting the series of negotiations on the UN’s global migration package if the United Nations publishes a pro-migration proposal on 5 February.
Mr. Szijjártó thanked the Czechs for the assistance that they have previously provided to the Hungarians in the interests of stopping the wave of migration. “By doing so, we have jointly proven that migration can be stopped and that the borders can be protected”, the Minister explained.
The Minister also stressed that border protection must be reinforced, because the number of attempts to illegally cross the border has recently increased. Groups of dozens and sometimes hundreds of illegal immigrants are attempting to break into the country every day, he said.
Mr. Szijjártó said that in his opinion the UN’s global migration package wants to weaken border protection and would like the illegal crossing of borders to not be regarded as a crime. “We are of the opposite opinion: illegally crossing a border is a crime and in the interests of the security of Hungary’s citizens we will continue to protect our borders and the Schengen borders”, the Hungarian Foreign Minister said.
“The UN can prescribe whatever it wants, we will continue to protect Hungary’s borders and the Schengen borders”, Mr. Szijjártó said, adding that “The draft of the UN’s global migration package is hauntingly similar to the Soros Plan”.
