A memorial conference on Carinal József Mindszenty and the launch of a book on his years at the U.S. Embassy in Budapest (1956-1970) were held in Budapest on 16 October 2019.

The conference, at which diplomats, scientists and historians commemorated Cardinal Mindszenty’s human, intellectual and moral inheritance in the presence of U.S. Ambassador to Budapest David B. Cornstein and Apostolic Nuncio Michael August Blume, was opened by Deputy Foreign Minister Levente Magyar.

The program’s host was Deputy State Secretary Ferenc Kumin. The second part of the conference continued with a lecture by the authors of the new book: “Mindszenty – American Diplomats on Cardinal Mindszenty 1957-1970”. An exhibition on the life and work of the Cardinal will be on display in the foyer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade until the end of November.
