On Tuesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó received President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pedro Agramunto. The two politicians agreed that not since the end of World War II has Europe had to face challenges which are as numerous and serious as it is facing now.
At the meeting, Minister Szijjártó stressed that the uncontrolled and unregulated wave of migrants significantly increases the threat of terrorism in Europe, and it also weakens public security. Therefore a common European solution must be found to the situation, he said.
Mr. Szijjártó asked his guest to urge the Council of Europe to do everything in its power to maintain Europe’s unity: more and more Western European leaders are making statements aimed at creating confrontation between Eastern and Western European countries.
