At 7 a.m. on the morning of 2 April 2017, a bus carrying schoolchildren rolled over and crashed into a roadside ditch for as yet unknown reasons near the town of Sveg in northern Sweden. According to news reports, three of the 52 secondary school children on board died as a result of the accident, and dozens more were injured.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó expressed his condolences with regard to the bus accident in a letter of condolence sent to the Swedish Foreign Minister. “I was deeply shocked by the tragedy, which caused a senseless loss of life and left many injured”, Mr. Szijjártó wrote. “I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and to wish the injured who are being retreated in hospital a speedy recovery”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade wrote.
