On Monday morning the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade took part in a telephone discussion with Foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcák, in connection with the alarming immigration situation.

Both ministers agreed that the Visegrád countries must present a united stance on the issue. Furthermore, they were both of the opinion that the European strategy should not be based on quotas, and that it should be able to put a halt to the massive influx of immigrants.

Minister Szijjártó informed his counterpart that 150 000 illegal immigrants have already arrived in Hungary this year, and that last week saw the emergence of a new situation, with immigrants showing increasing aggression towards representatives of the Hungarian authorities.
