At the ministerial-level conference, which is taking place with the participation of 52 states, the goal of the parties is the adoption of a joint action plan and statement focusing on migration issues relating to the Silk Road region of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iraq and Iran.

There is still no agreement on the text of the documents, however, in view of the fact that Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó previously stated that the pro-immigration forces cannot be victorious during the course of the Budapest Process.

The Istanbul conference will be officially opened by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; Hungary is participating in the process as Co-Chair.
