“Negotiations are beginning on the opening of the Hungarian-Slovenian border”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stated on his Facebook page on Thursday.

Mr. Szijjártó wrote that he had begun the morning with a telephone discussion with Slovenian Foreign Minister Anže Logar. “It is good news that, having evaluated the success of Hungary’s health protection against the coronavirus epidemic, the Slovenian health authorities have issued a recommendation according to which it is possible to open the Hungarian-Slovenian border for citizens of the two countries”, he added. “Hungary has an interest in the rational easing of the restrictions currently in force, and accordingly the Hungarian and Slovenian chiefs of police will begin negotiations on the details relating to the opening of the border”, the Minister announced.
