“New investment projects will soon be announced in Nyíradony and Miskolc, which will be realised with help from the government”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“The global pandemic that has developed because of the coronavirus has not only resulted in serious healthcare challenges, but also major economic challenges. However, this situation also presents an opportunity for the Hungarian economy to increase competitiveness”, Mr. Szijjártó wrote. “The Hungarian economy is successful thanks to the work of the Hungarian people, and for the Hungarian people to be able to work requires investment projects”, he highlighted.

“This is one of the reasons why the government has launched one of the most significant investment promotion programs in the history of the Hungarian economy, for which 806 enterprises operating in Hungary have applied. The adjudication of applications is occurring continuously, and the total volume of investment projects that have received funding exceeded the 300 billion-forint (EUR 858 million) mark on Tuesday”, the Minister wrote. “Until this morning, we have transferred a total of 146 billion forints (EUR 417.8 million) in funding to 646 enterprises, thanks to which we are successfully protecting some 120 thousand workplaces”, he added.

“The investment projects being currently realised are ensuring that these enterprises acquire a long-term advantage with respect to their foreign competitors, and accordingly are contributing to enabling the Hungarian economy to return to its pre-pandemic growth trajectory as soon as possible”, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said. “The Program is continuing, and we will soon be announcing new investment projects in Nyíradony and Miskolc”, he added.
