Minister of State for Economic Diplomacy Levente Magyar has paid a one-day visit to the Netherlands, during which the Wittenburg Declaration was adopted. The Declaration aims at enhancing long-term sectoral cooperation between the two countries in three main fields: water management, agriculture and ICT. It also represents a milestone in bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

The highly important event was held in the Business Club of the Castle de Wittenburg near The Hague. It was attended by the club’s exclusive representatives and influential businessmen, who, as former CEOs of global enterprises, are still working as consultants or supervisory board members at important economic stakeholders.

In his address Mr. Magyar remarked that in Hungary’s economic diplomacy portfolio innovation is a priority. With its broad sectoral experience in the specified fields, the Netherlands is therefore considered to be an excellent partner.

The Dutch partners underlined that they are convinced that Hungary has a number of new things to offer in terms of innovation; a fine example of this are the Hungary’s proficient ICT experts. There is thus a great opportunity for the country to play a leading role in fields which include “smart city” innovation projects (transport technology, tourism).
