Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó condemns the Paris attack, in which a police officer died and several others were injured, in the strongest possible terms, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday night.
“Those who attack the police are clearly aiming to destabilise the country and want to generate fear and uncertainty”, the statement stresses.
“Whatever the perpetrator’s motive, his actions are unacceptable and everything must be done to prevent similar attacks of this nature. France can count on Hungary’s solidarity and support. We express our condolences to the grieving and wish the injured a speedy recovery”, the statement reads.
A little after 9 p.m. on Thursday evening, an as yet not officially named perpetrator opened fire on a police bus near the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Élysées. The attacker was shot.
