Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó congratulated the Croatian Democratic Community (HDZ) on its victory at Croatia’s early parliamentary elections on Sunday.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Mr. Szijjártó said that “shortly after Aleksandar Vučić’s party won with a large majority in Serbia, Croatia was also able to celebrate a right-wing victory”. “Congratulations to our HDZ friends”, he added.
The Minister wrote that in recent years, and particularly since the outbreak of the migration crisis, Central Europe has been at the brunt of attacks from the international liberal mainstream. “A host of politicians and journalists are incapable of digesting the fact that right-wing, Christian democrat, anti-migration governments that regard their national interests as paramount have been able to achieve success for many years”, he stated. “We have seen and experienced the flood of fake news with which they are continuously attempting to undermine right-wing governments. These efforts are futile for the moment, however: the people of Central Europe will have none of the preaching, condescension and lecturing”, Mr. Szijjártó wrote.
