Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Chilean Deputy Foreign Minister Edgardo Riveros met in Budapest on Monday to discuss the further development of economic relations.

Chile is Latin America’s most open economy and Hungarian-Chilean trade flow increased by 26 percent last year and by 50 percent so far this year.

Chile is showing interest in Hungarian mining products and services, medical equipment and IT solutions.

An agreement was reached on beginning negotiations on a treaty to prevent double taxation, which will provide a firm legal basis for mutual investment.

Four Hungarian companies also received permission to export pork to Chile.
