In Sofia, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held bilateral talks with Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov, during the course of which the two ministers also discussed the Government of Hungary’s Schengen 2.0 action plan.
The press release provided to Hungarian news agency MTI by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade states that during the Foreign Affairs Council meeting Péter Szijjártó held talks with his Bulgarian colleague. The two ministers also discussed the European Commission’s proposal for mandatory resettlement quotas.
The ministers of foreign affairs agreed that the European Commission’s proposal to fine countries which reject the mandatory resettlement quotas is unacceptable
They also agreed that the number one priority task should be the protection of external borders, and that the European Commission may not deprive Member States of their competencies and undermine their sovereignty.
