Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held a telephone meeting with the First Deputy Chairman of Russian parliament’s upper house, the Federation Council, Nikolay Fyodorov on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to the statement, the parties confirmed their commitment to the further development of bilateral relations, in addition to which they gladly determined that practically all of the natural gas that Hungary had planned to purchase from Russia has already made its way to Hungarian gas storage reservoirs via Ukraine, meaning Hungary’s natural gas supply for next year is fully guaranteed.

The two politicians also spoke about Wizzair’s air passenger service connecting Budapest and Kazan, which is scheduled to be launched in late October, and which will be linking yet another Russian region into economic cooperation in view of the fact that Hungarian milk industry and feed production investment projects represent a major step forward for the field of agriculture, which has been most seriously hit by the EU’s sanctions.

According to the information provided, the parties also spoke about the introduction of more of the products manufactured by Hungarian pharmaceutical company Richter onto the Russian market, which is expected to further increase bilateral trade.
