Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov on Wednesday.

In a Facebook post, the Hungarian Foreign Minister wrote: “It would seem that the summer favours the resolving of long-standing issues, because today my Kyrgyz colleague and friend Chingiz Aidarbekov and I finally succeeded in placing a full stop at the end of our negotiations, which have been going on for years”.

“We have finalised the texts of our agreements on investment protection and avoiding double taxation, meaning we will be able to sign these agreements during the Krgyz President’s upcoming visit to Budapest”, he stated. “This will provide major assistance to Hungarian enterprises that would like to expand within the Central Asian region”, Mr. Szijjártó added.

He also mentioned that Chingiz Aidarbekov had thanked Hungary for the respirators it had previously sent to Kyrgyzstan, which played an important role in curbing the spread of the coronavirus there.
