Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with Russian Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov, who is in Hungary as part of the delegation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday.
Following the meeting, Mr. Szijjártó said: “Thanks to the active economic diplomacy efforts of recent years, we are now able to successfully enforce Hungarian interests within Hungarian-Russian economic relations”. “And Hungarian-Russian industrial cooperation contributes significantly to maintaining the growth trajectory of the Hungarian economy”, he stated. “Hungarian enterprises are continuously increasing their market presence in Russia within the fields of agriculture, the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry and the medical instruments market”, the Minister added.
According to Mr. Szijjártó: “We are now moving our cooperation forward into a new dimension by concluding an intergovernmental agreement on Russian space industry and space exploration missions that are already occurring with a major contribution from Hungarian engineering”. “Thanks to the agreement, Hungary will be able to undertake a greater role in the peaceful use of outer space in future years. The space industry is the most innovative sector of industry and the one that requires the most development and progress. Accordingly, Hungarian-Russian space industry cooperation represents a major step forward in the dimensional transition of the Hungarian economy”, the Ministry’s statement reads.
