“Citi has played a pioneering role in Hungary, and its innovative activities have contributed to the advancement of the national economy”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said before presenting the Officer’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit to the company’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin A. Murray on Wednesday in Budapest.

Mr. Szijjártó said the state order was partly an acknowledgement of the company’s achievements to date, but also a request for further support for Hungary.

“During Citi’s 33-year presence in Hungary it has provided assistance to countless numbers of private and state clients, has facilitated the realisation of foreign investments, and was the first to introduce a 24-hour customer service helpline, for instance”, the Minister pointed out.

Mr. Szijjártó noted that development projects such as the expansion of the Citi Service Center in Budapest, which he jointly announced with the company four years ago, are important to the national economy.

After receiving the award, Kevin A. Murray said: “We know that Hungary is happy to welcome foreign investors”, adding “This is the message we are passing on to others”.
