Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held a meeting with former Austrian Vice Chancellor and elected Director General of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development Michael Spindelegger on Thursday.
The parties agreed that Europe’s responsibility lies not in providing a European lifestyle for immigrants but in enabling refugees to remain as close as possible to their homes and get their old lives back as soon as possible.
Hungary continues to support the idea that countries who provide care for the greatest numbers of Syrian refugees such as Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq should receive support via EU funding.
Following the meeting, Mr. Szijjártó received in his office former Moldavian Prime Minister Iurie Leancă, whom he assured of the fact that Hungary remains a committed supporter of Moldova’s European integration efforts.
