Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó offered assistance to the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria to find the kidnapped Austrian man.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade offered assistance in providing consular protection for the Austrian citizen kidnapped in Libya on 6 March 2015.

The Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria accepted and thanked the offered assistance.

There is still neither direct nor indirect contact with the 39-year-old kidnapped Austrian man who is from Linz; he has not given any sign of life; the terrorists have not demanded ransom so far.

The Hungarian Ambassador’s extensive Libyan contacts could be of assistance to find the Austrian man.

Péter Szijjártó said the "the kidnapping of the Austrian man also shows that the Islamic State has attacked the Western community of values that we must protect jointly together".
