Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó received outgoing Israeli Ambassador Josef Amrani in his office on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI.
According to the statement, at the meeting the parties determined that Hungarian-Israeli relations have never been so good. In recent years, Hungary has consequently stood up in support of Israel in international organisations. Mr. Szijjártó assured the Ambassador that one of the important goals of Hungarian foreign policy will continue to be that Israel is approached fairly within international political life and “does not become the target of unfair attacks”, the Ministry added. “The Government will continue to stand up in support off the development of EU-Israeli relations”, the Ministry emphasised in the statement. Josef Amrani has occupied the post of Israeli Ambassador to Budapest since November 2016.
