Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó received President of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ) Hunor Kelemen in his office on Thursday, and they agreed that the Government will be continuing the outstandingly successful Transylvanian Economic Development Programme in cooperation with the RMDSZ, the Ministry said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to the statement, the evaluation of the tender applications submitted for the parts of the Transylvanian Plain belonging to Kolozs and Beszterce counties has been completed, thanks to which over 400 agricultural producers and small and medium-sized businesses will be receiving funding.

Péter Szijjártó  and Hunor Kelemen agreed on the  continuation of the programme this year, the Ministry added.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister and the RMDSZ President agreed that it is important that an agreement be reached as soon as possible with relation to the Hungarian language department to be launched at the University of Târgu Mureş (Marosvásárhely). The parties welcomed the fact that, following lengthy negotiations, an agreement may soon be arrived at with relation to the opening of the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár).
