Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Chairman of the Regional Council Volodomir Chubirko signed an agreement in Uzhhorod (Ungvár) on Friday on grants to be provided to Transcarpathia within the framework of the EU's Eastern Partnership Programme.

The minister also held discussions at the headquarters of the Hungarian Cultural Federation in Transcarpathia (KMKSZ), where the situation of the Hungarian community was reviewed, especially in light of the recent military mobilisation, the planned territorial-administrative reform and the issues of mother-tongue education.

Péter Szijjártó also held talks with Governor of Transcarpathia Vasil Hubal and Chairman of the Regional Council Volodomir Chubirko on the situation of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia as well as on cross-border cooperation and infrastructure development.
