In Hungary the safety of persons and property remains at the same high level as in recent years. Contrary to the impression given by headlines and images in the international media, the presence of migrants in Hungary has no impact on the day-to-day life of tourists and citizens. The difficulties which have been caused by misunderstandings in communication have had no influence on Budapest’s attractiveness to tourists, level of security or reliability of services.

The Hungarian authorities are acting in accordance with European law. Migrants who are cooperating by registering and seeking assistance at official accommodation centres are receiving appropriate care and provisions. The Government seeks every opportunity to provide a realistic picture of Hungary.
