Malaysia’s Higher Education Minister Dato’ Seri Idris bin Jusoh and on behalf of the Ministry of Human Capacities Ambassador Attila Káli signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Higher Education between the two countries in Kuala Lumpur on 23 February 2018. As part of education cooperation between the two countries, Hungary offers 40 full scholarships to Malaysian students to attend BA, MA and PhD programmes in Hungarian institutions of higher education.
Simultaneously with the reopening of the Hungarian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in 2015, on behalf of the Government of Hungary Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó confirmed the offer of 40 full scholarships to Malaysian students. The Embassy has since focused on the intensification of bilateral relations as a particular priority, with special regard to the scholarship programme.
The education policy goal of the Stipendium Hungaricum programme is to promote the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education, to improve its quality, to strengthen the international relations of the Hungarian academic elite, to enhance the cultural diversity of institutions of higher education and to popularise competitive Hungarian higher education around the world.

After the signing ceremony organised by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Idris Bin Jusoh said Malaysia looks upon Hungary as a priority partner in the field of European higher education and expressed gratitude for the fact that Malaysia has now joined the ranks of the almost 60 partners of the Stipendium Hungaricum programme.
Within the framework of education cooperation between the two countries, Hungary offers 40 full scholarships to Malaysian students to attend BA, MA and PhD programmes in Hungarian institutions of higher education. As expected, a call for applications will be published in March as part of which students will be able to submit their applications for the coming academic year.
